Shalby Dental Cosmetics & Implantology Services: It’s Truly International by All Standards

UK patient appreciates Shalby Dental Cosmetics & Implantology Services: “It’s Truly International by all standards”.

“My association with Shalby Hospitals is since 2011 when the knee replacement surgeries of my mother ,due to her cardiac status was declined by a few hospitals, elsewhere. It was Dr. Dhiren Mankad of Shalby who gave us the confidence and the knee surgeries of my mom had been successfully done by Dr. Vikram Shah and his team at Shalby in two successive sessions- 2016 and 2017.

In 2017 my family had a comprehensive medical checkup as well in Shalby and I got introduced to Dr. Darshini Shah, the best dental surgeon in India at the Shalby Dental Cosmetics & Implantology Centre for my teeth problems. Following this consultation , I got two caps for my front teeth , two bridges for the back teeth , a Root Canal Treatment(RCT) and a beautiful smile design which changed my personality for the good.

Back in UK, everyone who saw me noticed the change and appreciated the change. In 2016, I underwent implants for 4 of my baby teeth out of the 7 I have. Now in 2017 February, I am back at Shalby, Ahmedabad, again and got crowns fixed on the implants which are done most aesthetically and no words can express my happiness on the outcome. Despite my initial reluctance to undergo such procedures in India, I followed the medical advice of the Shalby Team and the personal touch of the team headed by Dr. Darshini Shah had done a marvelous transformation in my personality. All my fears about the competence of Indian healthcare has vanished into thin air with the compassionate and technologically advanced healthcare systems in Shalby Hospitals.

Ever since my first experience at Shalby, I have been a self proclaimed ambassador of this hospitals chain. Good work speaks and thus builds trust. My brother, Mr.Rajendra Patel who has got bridges done at Shalby hails the painless experience. Shalby multi-specialty care is truly beyond words ! I wish more and more people could take benefit of such wonderful treatment at Shalby. Shalby is truly international by all standards”.

Myths & Facts About Colon Cancer

myths and facts - colon cancer

Colon Cancer has a lot of myths associated with it. Fearing these myths, a lot of people are unaware of the seriousness of the disease and fail to get timely treatment.

Let us understand the misconceptions and uncover the truth about Colon Cancer:

1. MYTH: Colon Cancer is a ‘men’s disease’.

FACT: Not at all. It strikes both, men and women. Studies show that it is now the third leading cause of cancer death among women. Every year new cases of Colon Cancer are reported in both, men and women. So it is better to get screened to get cured as early as possible.

2. MYTH: There is no prevention for Colon Cancer.

FACT: This is the biggest misconception. Colon Cancer is a preventable disease. If the polyp is found early through screening, doctors can remove it and stop Colon Cancer before it advances. Also, you can reduce the risk of developing cancer by taking a low-fat diet, high in vegetables and fruits and exercise regularly.

3. MYTH: No symptoms and so, no screening.

FACT: This is the reason Colon Cancer leads to critical stages. It generally has no early symptoms. By the time it appears, the cancer may have reached higher stages. So if you find any slight changes in your stool, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding and unexplained weight loss, rush to get screened.

4. MYTH: Only people with a family history of Colon Cancer get it.

FACT: The occurrence of Colon Cancer does not have anything to do with family history. If you have a family history, it just means you need to start your screening earlier or do it more frequently, to prevent the development of cancer, as prevention is better than cure.

The Art of Dental Implants

Dental Implants

There is nothing quite as beautiful as a heart-warming smile. A smile radiates happiness and self-confidence. Needless to say, the teeth are an extremely important part of a beautiful smile. Not only does a missing tooth cause inconvenience, it can also detract greatly from the beauty of a smile. A person’s smile basically contains three elements – the gums, the lips and the teeth. How each of these elements affects the overall appeal of a smile is something that a good cosmetic dentist understands. Tooth restorations are a good way to restore beauty to one’s smile. However, sloppily placed or ‘visible’ tooth restorations may not lead to the effect that one is looking for.

Blending In – Functionality is extremely important – the restored tooth should be strong. But the objective of tooth restoration should not be just functionality – the restored tooth should also look natural and blend in with the teeth surrounding it. Nobody wants a restored tooth to stand out from the teeth surrounding it like it was announcing ‘I am not a real tooth!’ Well, that is precisely the kind of results you might get when you get tooth restorations done by professionals who lack skill, experience or dedication to natural-looking results. Tooth restoration options include dentures and bridges, but the best option is dental implants. Unlike other tooth restoration options, dental implants look and function just like natural teeth. Not only do dental implants last longer, they also do not need extra maintenance, making it easy to maintain a beautiful smile.

Abutments – For attaching the crown to the dental implant, an abutment is used. There are generally two types of abutments – custom abutments and stock abutments. Made by the implant manufacturer, stock abutments are abutments which are not customized and are the same for every patient and every situation. Since they are customized, stock abutments may not be an ‘exact fit’ as gums, the spacing of the teeth etc vary from patient to patient. This can lead to complications like infections and food compaction around the tooth.Custom Abutments are customized abutments – a patient’s exact implant’s mould is used to make a custom abutment. Thus, custom abutments are customized for every patient and every tooth. This leads to a perfect fit and more comfort.

Results That Look Great – A good cosmetic dentist will pay great attention to aesthetics and ensure that the abutments fit in well with the surrounding teeth so as to ensure the most natural-looking results. A good cosmetic dentist will see to it that the shape and color of the crowns placed on the abutments are such that they complement the surrounding teeth. For the best dental implant results, make sure that you approach only a reputed dental hospital in India like Shalby Hospital. The team at Shalby Hospital comprises of the best dentists in Ahmedabad – who are extremely skilled and experienced in dental surgery and cosmetic dentistry, and who see dental implants as both a science and an art.

With the help of the right professionals, you can easily use dental implants to restore functionality and beauty to your smile!
